With all the excitement around Metallica at the Sphere, I almost missed a milestone this week.

On October 2, 2021, I created my first Primus poster for their A Farewell to Kings tour. It was also the first poster of mine to sell out during its initial release.

I’m a huge Primus fan, and I’ve always loved creating posters for them. The creative freedom they give me is a dream, and this particular poster will always mean a lot to me.

Hard to believe it’s already been five years. Thank you to everyone who grabbed one and has supported my work along the way!

P. S. Sorry, I couldn’t find any Primus covers of Rush here on Instagram to use for this post, so I had to go with another song!

A look behind the scenes at my poster artwork for Metallica’s opening shows at Sphere in Las Vegas!

I drew this in Clip Studio Paint, and it took roughly 40 hours. My inspiration was this spirit/mythos of Metallica and the Metallica Army descending upon Las Vegas and the Sphere.

With the second show happening tonight, I finally get to share the drawing process. Getting to create these posters for Metallica is a huge honor!

Thank you all for the comments and support and again THANK YOU Metallica for and F4D Studios for the opportunity.

Another random trampoline park sketch. I lost the Pinterest reference, so there's the sketch and process.

Had some time to sketch while the kids bounced off the walls. Quick Wolverine in #Procreate.

I heard the new game is garbage. That's a bummer.

Hope you all are having a good day.

@youtube it is absolutely horrid that you ended the Celebration of Life live stream for Andy Williams tonight.

All the footage that you claimed was a copyright violation was associated with Andy’s professional music and wrestling carrier and you just crapped all over a wonderful celebration of life.

Your platform is garbage.

I’ve really been struggling to create art for myself lately.

Between my day job, freelance work, and being a husband and father, there just hasn’t been much time to sit down, reflect, and draw simply because I want to.

This past week, while my girls were at the trampoline park, I finally had a little time to sit down and sketch. I started drawing a skull because, well… skulls pay the bills.

I liked where it was going, and with Halloween around the corner, I thought it could make a cool piece. But the more I worked on it, the more I thought about how much of the imagery around this time of year simply celebrates darkness and evil.

So I thought: How can I turn that on its head?

What could be more fitting than a cross driven straight through the skull of a demon?

That became the direction for the entire piece: Christ’s triumph over evil.

“The Son of God appeared for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil.”
— 1 John 3:8

I sketched this i. Procreate then took it into clip studio to draw the background elements.

There I incorporated Gothic cathedral architecture, traditional Christian ornamentation, Scripture banners, and gold accents for highlighting.

I’m really happy with how this one turned out. More than anything, it felt good to sit down and create something personal again—and to make something where darkness isn’t celebrated, It’s defeated.

It’s on web store now. And for those of you who read all of thIs i will have some really exciting Poster news to share next month.

I’ve been laid up in bed this weekend recovering from a minor surgery, and somewhere along the way the algorithm decided I needed to meet this absolute specimen of a human being: Mullet Reviews.

Like the rest of the internet, I am now trapped.

I don’t know what Mullet Reviews’ stomach is made out of, but I can only assume it’s a combination of cast iron, asbestos, and the grace of God.

And since the oxycodone is wearing off, I can now capture his glory.

Godspeed, @mullet_review 🫡

You’re doing the Lord’s work.

You are a champion.

Every Time I Die was one of my favorite bands ever, and I was absolutely gutted this weekend when I heard that Andy Williams had passed away.

I didn’t know Andy or any of the guys personally, but their music was a huge part of my late teens and early twenties, and it continued to bring me a lot of joy over the years. It’s strange how someone you’ve never met can still have such an impact on a part of your life through the music they helped create.

My condolences go out to Andy’s family, friends, bandmates, and everyone who knew and loved him. I’m so sorry for your loss.

And to Andy, thank you for all the years of great music and the memories that came along with it.

Today is another poster anniversary!

Two years ago I got to create this one for Primus at Grind City Amphitheater in Memphis, and it’s still one of my favorites.

The idea of a completely unhinged redneck Skunk Ape just cracked me up, and I had an absolute blast bringing this guy to life. Sometimes an idea hits and you know immediately that it’s going to be fun to draw—this was definitely one of those.

The print did pretty well when it dropped, but I still have a handful of artist copies hanging around for anyone who missed it the first time.

Happy anniversary to this absolute legend and thanks again, Primus.

Dulce Veneno

Two takes on the same sting. 🦂

I had a lot of fun developing these two scorpion designs—one built around a darker, fully rendered red/black/gray palette, and the other stripped back to a clean red-and-black line treatment on white.
Same artwork. Completely different feel.

It’s been a while since I’ve done some Día de los Muertos-inspired art, and a scorpion seemed like a fun subject to draw.

Sketched in Procreate, then painted and rendered in Photoshop.

Which one are you picking: BLACK or WHITE? 🦂🌹
